What an incredible experience that you were able to re-visit them again! I feel so happy for you.

I stayed with a host family during a high school summer exchange trip in Germany. They came to visit my family in China a few years later. I've been wanting to visit them in Germany again, but haven't found a good chance. I think that experience in high school inspired me to study and live outside my home country after high school.

What a great reunion Ashleigh, and what a neat sendoff from your father. Congratulations on 10 years on the traveler trail!

This is so wonderful. Costa Rica is a dream for me - I'd love to spend some time volunteering at an animal sanctuary there, or something similar.

Sascha, I love how Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse places in the world! We got to visit the Keköldi Indigenous Reserve when I was in school. It’s home to the Bribri people who do a fantastic job of conservation and have an iguana sanctuary and do raptor research. youtube.com/watch?v=TZ1yB2UO7Vs

What a great experience, Ashleigh. It is fascinating to see how you enjoyed that time, your eyes are shining in every single picture. I regret myself a litte from not doing that in my 20s, but I tried to compensate as a nomad in my 30s. Completely different experiences, I suppose, but life happens as it happens.

Thank you, Mateus! I’m grateful my university had the partnership. Study abroad is a great experience, sure, but I’m glad you traveled in your 30s when you can fully appreciate the experience.

How could you NOT include a pic of your hobbit dinner?? And...I love the bit about Beto the dog.

I've been thinking about doing something like from when I studied abroad in Mexico but sheesh it was such a long time ago! Maybe I'll just enjoy your reunion instead... 😂

It’s fun to look back on those memories, even though they’re a bit hazy for me now! 😅
